We tend to divide ourselves loosely into groups based on a combination of when people arrived, what their source is (in the case of fictives) and Vibes(tm). They're not subsystems or sidesystems in the usual sense and people can interact with those in other groups, but often tend to socialise mostly within their own group, though there are numerous exceptions to that. We named them after constellations to stick with the same theme as "Serpens".

Lacerta

Lacerta is the oldest group in our system, going back to early childhood; everyone here traces their identity back in some way to the same root. Some of them are frequent frontrunners, some retired, some very rarely front anymore.

Auriga

The oldest fictives in our system, going back to our childhood and teenage years.

Vela

An older group with origins corresponding to... a difficult time in our life. I'm hesitant to call it a "system reset" because that seems like a pretty heavy term that implies a finality or from-the-ground-up rebuilding that I'm not sure really applies in our case - Lacerta and Auriga didn't actually go anywhere - but it certainly felt like a soft reboot of sorts. Ultimately we made it through alive and mostly unscathed, so hey, great job Vela, thanks for being there.

Pavo

Another group of mostly fictives or postfictives, generally corresponding to arrivals around the 2020 time period, which was obviously a fun and exciting time for everyone. Some people in this group also overlap with other groups (eg Agnes kind of belongs to both Pavo and Corvus).

Corvus

A group of relatively recent arrivals; large enough compared to the other subsets that we kind of unofficially divided it into two subsets-of-subsets, Gienah and Kraz (named after two stars within the constellation Corvus). A lot of the current front group come from here.
